I am not necessarily opposed to having Bernie Sanders as President, but I do not think we have fully examined the difficulties a Jewish president would face. I was just thinking about this today and here are a few I came up with:
- Evangelical Christian groups trying to schedule meetings with the White House and trying to crash public events to convert him.
- Increased violent antisemitism as any action he does, positive or negative, is viewed as a reflection of all of us.
- Increase in antisemitism from the Right as a legitimate tool of criticism for the sitting Democratic President.
I’m not saying don’t vote for him, I’m just saying that - as a Jewish person - the possibility that my people might be under threat from this concerns me.
